Enjoy our tour “Raqchi Cusco” full day, a place not very well known in the South Valley of Incas!
The archaeological park of Raqchi is located in the community with the same name, San Pedro district; and the archaeological proofs indicate that this was a town with important constructions, like the Wiraqocha temple (built in honor to the creator of universe: Apu Kon Titi Teqsi Wiraqocha).
Inside the complex, exists aqueducts, groundwater tombs and enclosures of Pre – Inca culture. Furthermore, there were terraces that were used for many purposes; and the great wall that protects the complex (rests of Wiracocha's temple).
Indeed, according to many studies, it was divided in 5 sectors: Wiraqocha's temple, the warehouses, the statue, the enclosures, and the water fountains.
In Raqchi, were found also 156 colcas, warehouses used to keep corn grains, quinoa, potato, chuño and dried meat of alpaca.
This place is located to the south of Cusco, in Huaro district, Quispicanchi province. This lookout is known as the “great hand of Cusco” or “heaven's door”, and it was inaugurated for Huaro municipality en 2021.
Since this lookout, you could have a complete view of the gorgeous landscape that garnish this part of Cusco region.
We will pick you up from your hotel at 7:00 a.m. and then, we will take you away in our tourist transport to the community of Raqchi. When we arrive, we will be able to enjoy the view of landscape and the warm weather of this zone.
After that, we will go to the archaeological complex of Raqchi; our tour guide will be with us and will explain the origins, importance and significance of this place to the Incas. On the way, we will have a space for taking photos and videos.
Subsequently, we will go to a handicraft center, where we could be able to witness the process of Raqchi ceramic; the knowledge of this practice was declared National Cultural Heritage in 2018; so this represents a very important practice that still remains through generations.
The next place to visit will be "La Montana Restaurant", a welcoming place with Andean feels and local flavors. After finishing, we have to take our transport and continue to Huaro, to visit "Cielo Punku" lookout; there, we will capture gorgeous photos.
To culminate the tour, we will be arriving to Cusco at 5:30 p.m. approximately.
