It was a result of a long process of minerals combination; currently, the sediments seem stripes that we could see in the mountain (the most highlight colors are red, purple, green, yellow, pink and their variations).
In the past, it was covered by ice, and probably it started to thaw because of climate change. So now we could appreciate the bright colors behind the snow, and since 2016, this place receives hundreds of visitors per day, becoming, along with Machu Picchu, one of the most visited places in Cusco.
