It is located 40 km from the city of Cusco, and 7 km from the town of Maras, at about 3500 m.a.s.l. The word Moray seems to come from the corn harvest that took place in the month of May, which was called Aymoray, and also from the dehydration of potatoes, which is called Moraya or Moray.
Moray was possibly an Inca agricultural experimentation center where experiments were carried out, since the temperature varies in the form of concentric circles on its platforms. Having the highest temperature in its central circle and gradually lowering as it rises, there are 20 different types of microclimates. Moray is believed to be attributed as a model to calculate the production of the Urubamba Valley, as well as other places.
There are many theories as to the reason for the name, among them:

Likewise, Chinchero is also known for its Sunday fair, internationally recognized for its work and beauty, since in this place some Inca ceremonies and customs are still intact.
It is located 28 km from the city of Cusco, in the province of Urubamba, and has an altitude of 3780 meters above sea level.
The village is composed of 12 communities with an organization system called “Ayllu”, this organization is from Inca times and is still governed in Chinchero.
They are dedicated to agriculture and livestock and are incorporating tourism as one of their activities.
